With technical excellence as his trademark, Johnny is taking men’s barbering to the next level. His forthcoming, inaugural MENtal men’s hair collection – recently showcased at the Fellowship For British Hairdressing Member’s Night to wide acclaim – is, much like Johnny himself, masculine, uncompromising and anti-establishment.
Supplementing Johnny’s pure talent are big-name allies who’ve bought into Barber Barber and brought over 50 years of top-flight experience to the table. Helping Johnny hone the future vision of the brand is session stylist and friend Dale Ted Watkins, who has been appointed Education Director of the Barber Barber group. This will ensure ongoing innovation and impeccable standards going forward.
Furthermore, Johnny’s MENtal collection was impeccably photographed by creative genius Andy Gilbert.
Says Johnny, 41, who started working in a Limerick barber’s shop aged 11, sweeping floors:
“I’ve dreamt of having a London shop since I was a small boy. Now that dream is a reality. London is a world centre and I need to be there for my brand to be taken seriously. Next stop: world domination”.
So now Johnny is fully tooled-up for London – but is London ready for him?
Up North, Johnny’s punters regularly queue around the block from 8am for a trim. Several loyal punters who already travel from London for a trim will now be saved the journey.

Barber Barber is an establishment that welcomes scoundrels and gentlemen and everyone in-between. From bricklayers to barristers, everybody is a VIP. But queuing will be part of the pleasure thanks to Barber Barber London’s luxurious, men-only speakeasy bar in the basement. With a fully-stocked cocktail bar and roulette table, it is set to be THE Shoreditch hang-out.
Whether sharing banter, a beer or contacts, it’s the London Underground pit-stop you’ll never want to leave. There will be no secret handshakes or knocks: the only entry criteria is that you’re a man, and you want a haircut. And once the Barber Barber experience is sampled, nothing else will suffice.
